Price includes food and accommodation, equipment, in-course transport and instruction.
The course will be based at the Tollymore National Outdoor Centre and utilise many challenging areas of the Mournes.
The course will include:
Weather Interpreting synoptic charts and past weather to plan safer hill journeys
Casualty handling and understanding mountain rescue
Fine detail navigation including subtle contour features and relocation techniques
Poor visibility / night navigation in the mountain environment
Understanding the mountain environment and access to it
Bring any of your own personal hill walking outdoor clothing and kit such as waterproof jacket, trousers, boots, fleece jacket, hat, gloves, flask, water bottle, Mourne map (1:25,000), spare clothes (it’s best to bring plenty of lighter layers and avoid cotton if possible as it offers little heat and takes ages to dry out if wet or sweaty).
