About the Event

The Castlerock Community Association in conjunction with the National Trust organise this annual festival, now in its fifth year. It offers a wide range of walks from hill walks to family walks and includes nordic walking and gentle journeys for those new to group walking.

The festival consists of guided walks in Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Downhill and the Bann Estuary, using Castlerock village as a base.

This region is a dramatic and unspoilt area of hill, moor, forest, beach and home to the famous Downhill Castle and Musssenden Temple. With routes taking you through some of Ireland’s most magnificent scenery, it won’t just be the walking that takes your breath away.

During the festival the following walks will take place:

- Hill Walks, of moderate difficulty, one on Binevenagh and one on Gortmore

- Nordic Walking poles are available for your use and training will be given, walks in the Downhill demesne

- WalkTalks, these are led information walks one about Castlerock and its history and one about the local environment

- Family walk for all the family from kids to grandparents this is led by the local environment biodiversity officer

- Gentle Journey this is a short led ramble around the village and is to encourage those who would only like or can only take a short walk.

All are followed by tea/coffee and buns.
