The Knockatallon and Cooneen Rambling clubs organise this cross-border, two-day festival in the Sliabh Beagh Hills of North Monaghan & East Fermanagh.
Day 1 Thurs 14th April
9.30 – 10.30 Registration in The Westenra Hotel, Monaghan Tea/coffee will be available.
First walk is the Greenway to Rossmore Park leaving The Westenra Hotel at 10.30. Leaving the hotel, we make our way via the Greenway and along the Ulster canal to Rossmore Park. At the park there will be an historical walk including s visit to The Rossmore Mausoleum (designed by E.J. Tarver). The Park walk is approximately 90mins duration and the Greenway is about 25 mins.
15:00 - Afternoon Walk. This is a guided stroll around Monaghan town where your guides will relate Monaghan's past as well as astounding you with details of its architectural gems.
Registration costs 15 euro for one day or 25 euro for both days. Includes tea/coffee and a return bus journey to Dartry on Friday.
The Festival dinner will be at 19.30 in the Westenra Hotel with Dr Niall Moyna of DCU and RTE's Operation Transformation fame as guest speaker and this will be followed by music and dancing.

Day 2 Fri 15th April
9.00 -9.30 - Registration in the Four Seasons. Tea/coffee will be available.
Dartry Estate Walk. Bus to Dartry departs 09.45. The estate now operated by Coillte lies in a landscape of forest and a series of lakes joined by the Dromore River. Here we will visit the Dawson Mausoleum designed by James Wyatt in 1770, it is modeled on the Pantheon in Rome and is regarded as "one of the most important 18th century buildings in Ireland”. It is now under reconstruction. We will return to Monaghan for 15:00. Bring a snack.
Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th April
Boots and Bogs walking festival follows on Saturday and Sunday 16th and 17th of April in Knockatallon, Co Monaghan, organised by the Knockatallon Ramblers.
On Saturday there will be two walks the advanced walk will be about 5-6 hours across blanket bog and tracks. We will be bused to the start and return by foot to the Sliabh Beagh hotel. Charge for this walk is €15. The second walk will start and finish at the Sliabh Beagh hotel it will be aprox 3 hrs. Charge is €10, sign in time is at 10:30.
On Sunday the walks will be in the Cooneen area of Co Fermanagh there will be two walks cost will be €10 length of walks are 2-4hrs. More details to follow.
