About the Event

Suitable for: individuals and groups who want to learn a new skill

This skills day is the first introductory day (PART ONE) of a two day navigation course. At the end of this single day you'll be on the road to becoming safe and independent in the mountains. The perfect introduction to navigation for complete beginners or those who need a refresher. Part two is a recap of part one and is usually delivered during the afternoon into night, so that nigh navigation can be learnt. NOTE: This event is ONLY part one.

Topics covered (PART ONE):

Weather forecasts,Safety in the mountains, Equipment, Using the map to navigate, Introduction to navigational tools,Taking a bearing, Walking on a bearing

Topics covered (PART TWO)

Refresh on all topics from part one, Aspect of slope, boxing, aiming off, Back bearings, Night navigation

*** Day one of the course runs from 10am until 4pm, day two runs from 3pm until 9pm. For a supplement, we can offer an overnight camping experience to link the two days on dates that suit you***

What's included:

- Fully qualified and experienced instructors to teach you all the skills you'll need

- maps and compasses (but we encourage you to get your own)

- A guaranteed good day out in the hills with lots of learning to be had!

What's not included:

- Personal clothing (we can help out with some things if you don't have everything on the kit list)

- Transport

- Lunch and water


up to 2 people: £40 pp

from 3 to 4 people: £35 pp

5 people or more: £30 pp

A detailed Kit list and registration form will follow during the booking process but typically bring:

Lunch, appropriate clothing , water and medications needed
