Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster today opened the new Kribben Cottages Complex in Annalong.

The cluster of five self catering cottages, developed with assistance from Invest Northern Ireland, has already achieved four-star accreditation from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

The Minister praised the vision and commitment of husband and wife team John and Myrtle Haugh behind the investment of the new cottages.

Arlene Foster commented:

"These impressive and high quality cottages look fantastic and are an asset to tourism in Annalong and the wider region. Kribben Cottages really represent a tremendous vote of confidence in the future of tourism in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty rich in tradition and heritage, and boasting unparallel access to a number of stand-out attractions such as Spelga Damm, Silent Valley and of course, the Mournes.

The opening of this superb facility is also very timely as we look ahead to the Irish Open being held at Royal Co. Down, Newcastle next year. The cottages will also benefit from the continued growth in tourism that has been assisted by high profile events such as the Giro d'Italia cycling road race in May.

The commitment of John and Myrtle to be forward thinking, to develop and invest in the future, is just the sort of vision and mindset needed for tourism in Northern Ireland to prosper."
