The wait is almost over for the opening of the The Gobbins cliff path - a spectacular new walking route on the very edge of the Irish Sea.

Some 20 miles / 32 kilometres north of Belfast on the stunning Causeway Coastal Rout at Islandmagee, Larne, Co Antrim the Gobbins is a re-awakened coastal experience which was first enjoyed in 1902 by the Edwardians. After undergoing a multi-million pound face lift the cliff path is now set to be an unexpected white-knuckle walk which will thrill those with a sense of adventure and delight those who wish to experience the coast up close.

Only accessible via guided tour expect to see the waves crashing into the cliffs, feel the wind in your hair and witness the natural wonder of the coastline up close as you walk the winding cliff path.  Bridges, tunnels, caves, steps, unique rock formations and stunning views will punctuate your path as you walk beside the curious geology. The cliff path itself is accessed by a steep downhill walk for about 1km or 15 minutes walking time. The length of the path itself is about ¾ mile / 1.2km but you will walk this twice as part of your experience.

The site also boasts a brand new visitor centre featuring information on the building of The Gobbins, its history from Edwardian times and the geology and ecology of Islandmagee. There is also a coffee shop and a gift shop.

For those keen to be some of the first to walk the path an online booking system will be opening in the coming days at www.thegobbinscliffpath.com and visit their Facebook Page at  to keep up to date.
