Sarah Travers pulled on her walking boots, Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke t-shirt, hooded cloak and brandished 7ft weapons along the Kings Road, aka ‘The Dark Hedges’, to launch NICHS’s Causeway Challenge Walk Game of Thrones style!

Strange combination?  It all makes sense when we find out that the Causeway Walk on 26th September, along with NICHS’s other Challenge Walks, will take place in various filming locations of the popular TV series including Ballintoy Harbour and Carrick-a-rede’s Larrybane Quarry.

Sarah said ‘I have to say I have never been to the Dark Hedges and as a local I can’t believe that!  It’s a remarkable landmark and I can’t get over the amount of tourists that visit not only the Dark Hedges but all the other Game of Throne locations in NI because of it.  It truly makes you value what beauty we have here in NI and how much we as locals have not seen yet.  I would encourage everyone reading this to take on the Causeway Coast Challenge Walk on 26th September for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke and see what the film producers see in our stunning country while raising vital funds for local hearts.

The stunning Causeway Coastal walk has attracted many supporters and walkers over the years and this September is set to be bigger and better than before with participants being bused to Carrick-a-rede from Portballintrae and then guided along the marshaled route back to the seaside village where an abundance of entertainment and food outlets will meet them. Each walker will receive a t-shirt before the day and be awarded with a medal for their efforts after their 13 or 26 mile walk.

Sarah continued ‘The series of walks also includes the North Antrim Challenge Walk on 13th September and Tollymore Forest Challenge Walk on 14th November.  These events are all part of NICHS’s summer Heart Campaign which is highlighting the symptoms of a heart attack and the importance of acting on symptoms and dialing 999 immediately if they occur in anyone you know.  By taking part in one of the Challenge Walks you will be helping NICHS to reach more people at risk of heart attacks here in NI.  So ‘Take Heart’ this summer and sign up to one of these spectacular events!’
