Finance Minister, Nigel Dodds, officially launched the latest edition of ‘The OSNI Mournes Activity Map’.  The map has been designed to cater for the appetite of those who enjoy the outdoors. Packed with information on the location of top spots for climbing, rambling or simply relaxing, The OSNI Mournes Activity Map provides an essential guide to this stunning area.

Commenting on the launch of the map, the Minister said “The Mournes Activity Map provides tourists and those with an interest in the outdoors with a fantastic guide to this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  With summer approaching, this is an ideal time to get outside and explore this beautiful countryside. As well as being packed with popular walks and trails, the map is waterproof to protect it from the rain”.

Responding to feedback from customers the new edition of the Mournes Activity map now contains enhanced digitally derived contours. This upgrade will dramatically improve the accuracy of the map for walkers and climbers using the map.

The two sided activity map includes Slieve Croob, the Murlough Nature Reserve as well as Tollymore and Castlewellan Forest Parks. It provides a detailed guide for many outdoor activities and highlights local amenities and services including the location of Mourne Rambler bus stops.

The Mournes Activity Map can be purchased now in major bookshops or online at www.lpsni.gov.uk  and is one in a series of OSNI Activity Maps produced and published by Land & Property Services (LPS).

Other maps in the series include the Glens of Antrim, The Sperrins, Lough Erne and Strangford Lough.
