2013
The following surfacing work was cancelled  due to unforeseen circumstances. This work has been postponed until further notice and the route will remain open as normal. It is anticipated no work will take place until after the July holidays.

We have been advised by Central Procurement Directorate of the following route closures on National Cycle Network Route 9, Lagan Towpath:

15/16 June 2013: Area from the Dutch bridge to Albert Bridge will be closed for resurfacing and a diversion around the back of Maysfield Leisure Centre will be in place. This will reopen after 16 June.

22/23 June 2013: Large area at Lock Keeper's Cottage/McConnells Weir will be closed for resurfacing and a diversion will be in place along River Terrace/Balfour Avenue will be in place. This will reopen after 23 June.

Diversion on Route 9 at Clement Wilson Park

National Cycle Network Route 9 between Belfast and Lisburn is currently being diverted in the vicinity of Clement Wilson Park, due to the pedestrian and cycle bridge at Newforge being closed because of safety concerns. A new bridge is scheduled to be opened in August 2013.

Please use alternative route between Shaw's Bridge and Canal Bridge at Lock Keeper's Inn as shown on this map (pdf).

Cycle slowly as the canal towpath is narrow in places.
