How to Walk the Route (Following a Clockwise Direction)

For those walkers determined to complete of full circuit of Northern Ireland then accurate maps of this Link section are available to download.

When walking on road sections please observe the Highway Code and it is advised to wear high visibility clothing.

From Union Bridge in Lisburn walk east along the A49 towards Ballynahinch. Pass under the M1 motorway and follow rural roads to the village of Drumbo. Continue north east through the outskirts of Carryduff. Continue northeast for about 30 minutes before turning north towards Crossnacreevy. Wind through the suburbs of east Belfast before entering the grounds of Stormont. On leaving Stormont, follow the Old Holywood Road to Redburn Country Park and onwards to Holywood where the North Down Coastal Path Quality Section begins.

To travel onwards from Lisburn to Holywood take Northern Ireland Railways (NIR) Service 1 from Lisburn Rail Station to Holywood Rail Station. This service is available 7 days a week.
