How to Walk the Route (Following a Clockwise Direction)

For those walkers determined to complete of full circuit of Northern Ireland then accurate maps of this Link section are available to download.

When walking on road sections please observe the Highway Code and it is advised to wear high visibility clothing.

Leave the towpath at Scarva Bridge and follow minor roads westwards along NCN CYCLE ROUTE 91: via - Terryhoogan Road, Bunkers Hill, Old School Road, Scarva Road, Tandragree, Markethill Road, Clare Glen, Old Clare Road, Clare, Lough Road, Moss Road, Tannaghmore Road, Deryraine Road, Drumbee More Raod, Ballynahonemore Road, Armagh, The Mall, Russell St, Cathedral Close, Callan St, Windmill Hill, Callan Bridge, Callan River Path, Killylea Road, Navan Fort Road, Killylea, Tynan, Caledon Bridge, Caledon, Minterburn Road, Annaghasallagh Road, Glendavagh Road, Glencrew Road, Laneway, Dungannon Road to Aughnacloy.

Linking to the Next Section

Walkers may choose to leave the Quality Section – Newry Canal Way just beyond Scarva or continue walking to Portadown.

From Portadown to Aughnacloy the following Ulsterbus Servies are available (There are no bus services available on a Sunday.):

From Portadown High Street take Ulsterbus Service 67 to Dungannon Bus Station, then Ulsterbus Service 76 or 78 (Omagh) from Dungannon Bus Station to Aughnacloy.

From Portadown Market Street take Ulsterbus Service 271 to Cavan alighting at Monaghan Bus Station. Then Bus Eireann Service 33 to Londonderry alighting at Aughnacloy.
