Getting to Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is easy to get to, easy to get around.  Excellent fast ferry links from England and Scotland to Belfast and Larne, three airports with frequent low-cost flights from the United Kingdom and beyond, plus good roads, buses and trains to take you where you want to go.

Arriving from the Republic of Ireland

Arriving by Air

Scheduled air services operate to Northern Ireland from nearly all major UK airports.  There are many direct flights from major European cities to Northern Ireland. Additionally, there are services via Dublin, London and other UK airports.

Major airlines operate scheduled services from the US and Canada to Belfast International Airport via UK airports and airports in the Republic of Ireland. Additionally, there are charter flights direct from New York and Toronto to Belfast.

Airport Express 300 – 24 hr bus service between the airport and Belfast (departing every 10 minutes). Departs: bus stop opposite terminal exit.

From BIA to Belfast: All coaches travel via:Templepatrick, M2 Motorway, Royal Avenue, Castle Place and terminate at Belfast’s Europa Bus Station. Journey time: approx 30-40 minutes

Bus 600 - Operates every 20 minutes from Sydenham to the Belfast Europa Bus Centre, between 06:00 and 22:05. Cost: £2.20 return.
No. 3 Metrobus - Operates every 20 minutes from Sydenham to City Hall and every 10 minutes between 09.00 and 17.30. Five-minute walk from Airport terminal to the bus stop.

Nearest rail service operates from the Airport terminal (Sydenham) to Belfast Central and Victoria Street Stations. Monday-Fridays: Operates a twice hourly service between 06:00 and 23:00.

Ulsterbus operates various scheduled services to and from the airport to the main Foyle Street bus depot in the City. Bus 142 or the 234 into the city centre, Limavady and Coleraine.
Train services operate from Londonderry train station and run to Coleraine and Belfast. Full details are available on the Translink website.

Taxi fare to Derry City is approximately £14.  Car hire is available from the airport.
