Getting to the Start (by Public Transport)

Portaferry is accessed by car or public transport. It is situated 20 miles from Newtownards on the A20 or via the A25 through Downpatrick and Strangford, and a short 15 minute journey on the Strangford Lough ferry. Getting to the Start (by Car)

Car parking is available in Portaferry with a car park beside Exploris - the N.Ireland aquarium at the Ropewalk.Portaferry Tourist Information and Visitor Centre is the start point and is located beside Exploris on Castle Street.


Dogs are allowed. Dogs should be kept on leads at all times


Refreshment and toilet facilities are available in Portaferry. Car parking, included disabled car parking is also available.
