Route Description

The linear park follows the line of the former Co. Down railway.

From the top of the car park follow the path to the Beersbridge Road. Taking care crossing the road, continue along the path. Although a pipeline was recently laid under this route, the corridor still retains some of its mature character. Re-planted shrubs and trees are becoming well established.

Soon the path passes under the North Road Bridge. The path continues between high embankments towards the Sandown Road. Look out for the remains of the former railway platform and pockets of wildflowers on the banks.

The route then continues to the Old Dundonald Road, Dundonald.

This walk is now incorporated into the Comber Greenway that extends to Comber.

From here the No10 bus can take you back to the starting point.

Walk forever and ever easily and safely. It’s fairly level: no steep climbs. Detour at any point where the Walkway (an old railway line) crosses a road. Go for a coffee or catch a bus home. Walk through trees, banks of flowers, hear the birds sing and greet fellow walkers.

Keep to one side to let the cyclists pass - it’s quite busy! You’re never alone.

Living on cyprus Ave this greenway is right on my doorstep. It's great for getting a little exercise in away from the traffic. Since I moved here I've done hundreds of miles of walking on it, always thoroughly enjoyed.

Our Church Group from the Seymour street Methodist Church Lisburn went on a walk along the Comber Greenaway we Started at Bloomfield and walked for a Few Miles till we Reached the Police Headquarters at Knock some of the Older walkers turned Back at that point and Being stuck for time for Coffee in a Local Cafe I did another mile and then it time to Go I found it very Interesting watching the world go By and wondered what it was reall'y Like to travel on such a Nice Line days gone By But there is a New Threat to befall that Route from the Developers who wants to turn it into a Light Railway Route all the way to Comber and we all wonder what will happen Next I hope they will change thier minds and Leave the waklers and Cyclists Thier Freedom on this Very Nice Path

A beautiful walk all the way to Comber in peace and quiet. Fantastic for getting away from it all.
