Tievnadarragh Forest

Tivenadarragh Wood offers 6km (3.6 miles) of waymarked trails exploring the autumnal woodland with the opportunity to take in panoramic views of the County Down countryside and the Mourne Mountains. The woodland’s name derives from the Irish Taobh na Darach, which means “hillside of the oak tree”.

With Tievnadarragh situated no more than a 15 minute drive from Ballynahinch and Downpatrick, this tranquil wood offers the perfect autumn escape for county down residents and those coming from further afield.

 

Corry Wood

Just 20 minutes down the road from Tievnadarragh you will find Corry Wood. Those who think Castlewellans Forest Park is all Castlewellan has to offer, think again! Corry Wood offers a unique walking experience through small and peaceful mixed woodland. Explore this hidden gem by using the waymarked walking trail to discover more of Castlewellan’s rich historic landscape including the old railway embankment that cuts through the heart of the woodland.

Castle Coole

Experience the stately grandeur of the stunning Castle Coole by exploring its idyllic wooded surroundings the best time of year you can, autumn! This is a perfect walk for families, guaranteed to wow everybody with the colours on offer. This walk is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors for those based near Enniskillen.

 

Crawfordsburn Country Park

Crawfordsburn Country Park needs no introduction! This North Down gem comes alive at this time of year.

This tranquil spot offers walks through wooded glens and a stunning waterfall, Crawfordsburn Country Park provides a relaxing natural retreat. The glen walk and meadow walk are likely to offer the best autumnal experience.
