For anyone who is travelling the Causeway Coast Way, the upgraded and vastly improved car park at Portaneevey is now open.
Currently, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge is closed to the public but people can park at Carrick Rede car parks and walk around the site. For anyone with limited mobility Portaneevey is a perfect location to get a great view of the rope bridge and surrounding area with a minimum amount of walking.
The upgrade has kept everything in keeping with the locality and when the grass grows around the picnic tables it will look even better. A basalt stone wall has been built along the length of the site, again, in keeping with the traditional stone walls seen on both approaches to the car park.
