Highway to Health, Mater Hospital, The Louis McNiece Walk
This urban walk is part of the Highway to Health Scheme – a simple and innovative scheme which aims to encourage people of all ages to walk for leisure and good health. It uses pole signs at one kilometre intervals on an established route.
The walk around the Mater Hospital area is to aid health promotion to staff, patients and visitors

Following much of the same route as The Academy Walk, leave the McAuley building onto the Crumlin Road and turn left onto Annesley Street. Go up the Antrim road past St. Malachy’s College, and turn left onto the Cliftonville Road. After passing the Belfast Royal Academy, continue a short distance and then turn left onto Rosapenna Street. Turn left again from here onto the Oldpark Road, and then onto the Crumlin road before returning to the Mater.
